Privacy Policy for application DerDieDas DE

DerDieDas DE is a vocabulary trainer. You can use it without creating an account, and in that case your learning progress — the words you have met, your streak, your statistics — is stored on your device and is never uploaded.
This policy describes the data that does leave the device, including what changes if you choose to sign in.
What we collect
Usage and diagnostic data (not linked to you). The app uses Firebase Analytics, Firebase Performance and Firebase Crashlytics to see which screens are opened, which features are used, and whether the app is slow or crashing. A crash report includes the state of the app at the moment it stopped. These reports carry a randomly generated app-instance identifier, your device model, operating system version and an approximate region derived from your IP address. They do not carry your name, your email address or any identifier we could use to recognise you. We never attach your account identifier to these reports.
An anonymous account identifier. On first launch the app signs in anonymously with Firebase Authentication. This produces a random identifier tied to your installation. It exists so that feedback you send can be answered and so repeated submissions can be recognised as coming from the same installation. It is not linked to any personal detail and disappears when you delete the app.
An account you choose to create (linked to you). You can sign in with Apple or Google from the profile screen. We then receive the identifier and, depending on the provider and your choice, the email address that provider shares. Signing in exists for one purpose: backing up your learning progress so it can be restored on a new device. When progress backup is active, your progress — your answer history, streak, XP, achievements, learner profile and the app settings that follow an account — is stored in Firebase under your account. It is deleted, along with the account, when you delete the account from the profile screen.
Feedback you choose to send (linked to you). If you use the feedback form or report a word, we receive the text you wrote, the features you selected, the app version, your device model, your locale and time zone, and the anonymous identifier above. The email address field is optional — supply it only if you would like a reply. If you do, we can and will associate that message with you, because that is the point of giving it to us.
What we do not do
- We do not show advertising and we do not use any advertising SDK.
- We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we do not ask for permission to, because we do not do it. The app does not access the advertising identifier (IDFA).
- We do not sell or share your data with data brokers.
- We do not collect your contacts, photos, precise location, health data or browsing history.
Who processes it
Google, as the operator of Firebase, processes the above on our behalf. Firebase's own privacy information is at https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy. The app downloads its word and sentence content from Firebase as well, which is what keeps the material current.
We review usage and progress records internally to understand how the app is used and to improve it. For that analysis we may run a progress record through an AI service (OpenAI or Google) acting as our processor. What is sent are the numbers — levels, streaks, counts, settings — never your name, your email address or your account identifier, and under their API terms these providers do not use the data to train their models.
Your choices
- Stop everything by deleting the app. If you never signed in, nothing survives it. If you did, the progress backup stays until you delete the account, so that a reinstall can restore it.
- Delete your account from the profile screen. Your profile, your backed-up progress and the engagement counters we keep against it are erased outright, and your account identifier is stripped from any feedback, report, rating or word suggestion you sent — the text stays, because we still act on it, but it is no longer attached to you. There is no waiting period and nothing is kept back.
- Send nothing at all by simply not using the feedback form. Everything else the app does works offline.
- Ask us to delete a submission. Write to the address below with the approximate date of your message and we will remove it.
Under the GDPR you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of anything we hold, and you may object to our processing it. In practice the data we hold that can be traced back to a person is a feedback message you sent us with an email address attached, and — if you signed in — your account and the progress backed up under it, both of which you can delete yourself from the profile screen.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages and collects nothing beyond what is described above. It has no chat, no user-to-user content and no advertising.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top and note the change in the app's release notes.
